Olga Yermalovich--Therapist in Davie, FL

My approach is person-centered and trauma-informed, grounded in the belief that people deserve to be understood rather than judged or fixed.I believe therapy is NOT about becoming someone else. It is about helping you finding your way back to the most authentic self, that has always been there.

I primarily work with adults navigating trauma, grief, and difficult life transitions, as well as those who feel that something in their lives could be better but cannot quite put their finger on what is missing.

My approach is rooted in Emotionally Focused Therapy, which emphasizes the importance of understanding our emotions and the attachment needs that shape how we experience ourselves and our relationships. I believe that meaningful, lasting change happens not only through intellectual understanding, but through emotional experiences that allow us to relate to ourselves and others differently.

What can I expect in my first few sessions with you?

In our first few sessions, we’ll take time to get to know each other and explore what brings you to therapy, what you’ve been experiencing, and what you hope might change. You don’t need to have everything figured out or know exactly where to begin. We’ll move at a pace that feels comfortable for you, creating space for you to feel heard, understood, and accepted without judgment.

What makes you different from other therapists, psychologists, ARNPs?

Coming from an Eastern European background, I bring my own perspective on therapy and its outcomes. I’m particularly interested in going beyond managing symptoms. Rather than focusing only on changing thoughts or behaviors, I’m helping to create change at a deeper, emotional, level. Like that change can become more natural and lasting, rather than something we have to constantly work at.

What inspired you to become a therapist, psychologist or medication management provider?

What inspired me to become a therapist was my curiosity about why we sometimes understand something about ourselves intellectually but still struggle to feel or experience it differently. We can know that we deserve healthy relationships, for example, yet continue to find ourselves in familiar patterns that leave us feeling hurt or misunderstood. I became interested in what makes these patterns so persistent and what actually helps people move beyond them.
