Sharon Morera - Therapist in Fort Lauderdale, FL

My name is Sharon Morera, a native Floridian that comes from a Costa Rican background, which has shaped my appreciation for culture, family dynamics, and the importance of feeling understood and connected.

I am passionate about creating a space where clients feel genuinely seen, supported, and understood. I work with children, teens, adults, and families navigating challenges such as anxiety, trauma, emotional regulation difficulties, relationship stress, self-esteem concerns, life transitions, and attachment-related struggles. I especially enjoy helping clients build insight into patterns that may be keeping them stuck while developing practical tools to feel more grounded, confident, and connected in their daily lives.

Clients can expect a collaborative, compassionate, and nonjudgmental approach when working with me. I strive to create an environment where clients feel safe being themselves while also feeling challenged and empowered toward growth. I integrate evidence-based approaches while tailoring treatment to each individual’s unique needs, personality, and goals.

I also speak Spanish and enjoy being able to connect with and support Spanish-speaking families when needed. I’m excited to be part of a practice that values authentic connection, quality care, and creating meaningful change in the lives of clients and families.

What can I expect in my first few sessions with you?

In the first few sessions, you can expect us to focus on building a comfortable and supportive therapeutic relationship while also gaining a deeper understanding of what brings you to therapy. We’ll explore your current challenges, personal history, patterns, strengths, and goals at a pace that feels manageable for you. My approach is collaborative, warm, and nonjudgmental. I want therapy to feel like a space where you can be honest and fully yourself without fear of criticism or pressure. Together, we’ll identify the areas you’d like to work on and begin developing practical tools and insights to help you feel more grounded, empowered, and emotionally supported in your daily life.

What makes you different from other therapists?

What makes my approach unique is that I take a more holistic and personalized approach to therapy, recognizing the connection between mental, emotional, relational, and physical well-being. I strive to balance genuine human connection with practical, evidence-based support, helping clients not only process their experiences but also build tools they can apply in their everyday lives. I work to create a space that feels warm, collaborative, and authentic rather than overly clinical or one-size-fits-all. I tailor therapy to each individual’s personality, needs, and goals, integrating different therapeutic approaches depending on what is most helpful for the person sitting in front of me. My goal is to help clients build insight without shame while developing emotional resilience, healthier relationships, self-awareness, and a stronger sense of confidence and balance in their lives.

What inspired you to become a therapist?

What inspired me to enter this field is that psychology and the human mind have always genuinely fascinated me. I’ve always been curious about why people think, feel, and respond the way they do, as well as the connection between our experiences, relationships, emotions, and overall well-being. What continues to motivate me most, though, is witnessing the resilience people carry, even during some of the darkest and hardest moments of their lives. Being able to support people through healing, growth, self-discovery, and meaningful change is something I feel deeply passionate about and grateful to be part of.
