Stephanie Carvajal, LCSW - Therapist in Wellington, FL

Introduction

Hello, I’m Stephanie! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in South Florida and Infant Family Associate with over 5 years of experience working as a therapist in both the community and medical setting. I have experience in helping a wide range of populations with managing their concerns including depression, anxiety, PTSD, family dynamics, grief, and abuse.

My professional experience has allowed me to gain a wealth of knowledge on families and early childhood development in particular, leading to certifications such as the Nurturing Parenting Program Certification and the Infant Mental Health Endorsement. My career has also allowed me to gain experience in managing trauma and providing crisis intervention.

My therapy style is nurturing and interactive. My approach combines cognitive-behavioral, crisis intervention, solution-focused therapy, and motivational interviewing. I will work to ensure our sessions and treatment plan meet your unique and specific needs.

A fun fact about me? I love running! I also enjoy embarking on mission trips, and so far, I’ve had the pleasure of serving in Haiti, Santo Domingo, and Nicaragua!

I applaud you for taking this first step towards reaching your goal. While the first steps towards a better tomorrow can often be the hardest, I look forward to working with you in meeting those goals in order to empower you in taking ownership of your tomorrow. So, here’s to you!

What can I expect in my first few sessions with?

In our first sessions, we’ll focus on building trust and creating a safe space where you can share openly. We’ll talk about what’s been weighing on you, explore your goals, and start identifying tools to help you feel more in control. My goal is for you to leave those early sessions feeling heard, supported, and hopeful about the changes ahead.

What makes you different from other therapists?

We all bring different degrees and areas of expertise to the work we do. As a social worker, my focus is on seeing the whole person — not just a diagnosis. I work to understand your emotions, explore how past trauma may still impact your present, and help you navigate the challenges of daily life. What makes me different is the way I combine compassion with curiosity; I meet you where you are, walk alongside you in the hard places, and support you in building the tools you need to move forward. My goal isn’t just to treat symptoms, but to help you feel seen, heard, and empowered in your journey.

What inspired you to become a therapist?

My desire to become a therapist was shaped by the strong women in my family. My paternal grandmother was a missionary and my maternal grandmother was a social worker in New York — both devoted their lives to helping others, and their example stayed with me. From an early age, I knew I loved people and felt called to walk alongside them in their struggles and growth. I’m also deeply curious about how the mind works and how our emotions shape the brain. For me, therapy is the perfect way to bring those passions together — caring for people, sharing knowledge, and helping others reach their goals with understanding and hope.
