Suquoya Tyler, LMHC - Therapist in Palm Beach Gardens, FL

Introduction

Hi there! My name is Suquoya Tyler and I’m a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of Florida. I have been a clinician for over eight years and have had the privilege of serving diverse populations while treating various disorders including: Depression, Anxiety, Eating Disorders, PTSD, Substance Abuse, etc.

I earned my Bachelor of Science from Florida State University, where I majored in Family and Child Sciences, and my Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling from Nova Southeastern University. I have received formal training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing, and various other evidenced based treatment modalities.

I have extensive experience working with adolescents and young adults struggling with a lack of self-esteem, abandonment, generational trauma, anxiety, and depression. I absolutely love helping guide adolescents, adults, and families through life’s ever-changing journey with various skills and techniques I have learned and implemented throughout the years. My hope is that each person I work with discovers and embraces their true authentic self and experiences true happiness within. My main goal as a clinician is to form a strong therapeutic alliance in order to foster a safe environment to go below the surface and do deep healing work.

I am also an advocate for self-care and enjoy writing poems, listening to music, going to the beach, spending time with loved ones, and playing with my adorable puppy Shadow.

What can I expect in my first few sessions with?

In your first few sessions, you can expect authenticity, a comfortable and supportive space, and a clear insight into the therapeutic process as we begin to explore your goals together.

What makes you different from other therapists?

What sets me apart is my authenticity, deep compassion, and a down to earth style that sometimes includes a bit of humor when it's healing. I don't believe therapy has to feel stiff and serious all the time, but instead warm, real, and comfortable where you feel safe to be genuinely yourself.

What inspired you to become a therapist?

What inspired me to become a therapist was working closely with at risk youth and young adults. I saw pieces of my own story in some of their experiences, and that connection stuck with me. Watching these individuals grow, push through adversity, and build something better for themselves was incredibly powerful to witness. Their strength and resilience continue to inspire me and remind me why I chose to do this work.
