Claudine Petit-Frere - Therapist in Palm Beach Gardens, FL

Introduction

Hello, I am Claudine Petit-Frere, a registered Social Work intern in the State of Florida who provides services in English and Creole.

I have over 10 years of experience in the community working as a volunteer at Hands Together for Haitians Inc. formerly known as Hands Together of the Palm Beaches in Lake Worth, Florida.

I concentrate on two main approaches, such as person-centered, which requires clients to actively take control during each session, while the therapist acts as a guide and a source of support for clients. Cognitive therapy focuses on clients identifying their negative thoughts and feelings and replacing them with positive and more accurate ones.

I also employ play therapy techniques when working with children from the age of 5-10 years old. Play therapy helps children explore, communicate, and safely experience the problem they are working through. My goal is to create a comfortable environment for my clients to express their thoughts openly.

What can I expect in my first few sessions with?

Starting therapy is an essential step toward caring for yourself. In the first few sessions, we will focus on getting to know you, exploring your experiences, and setting goals for your journey. Together, we will look at your challenges, strengths, and patterns and create a plan reflecting your hope to achieve. Throughout therapy, you can expect a safe and supportive space, practical tools to use daily, and a collaborative process where we check in on your progress and adjust as needed.

What makes you different from other therapists?

What sets me apart from other therapists is that I combine evidence-based strategies with a compassionate, collaborative approach personalized to the client's unique needs.

What inspired you to become a therapist?

I was inspired to become a therapist because I am passionate about creating a safe and supportive space where people feel understood, valued, and empowered to make meaningful life changes.
