Dr. Alyssa Kerrigan - Psychologist in Wellington, FL

Introduction

My name is Dr. Alyssa Kerrigan, and I am a Licensed Psychologist with a specialty in School Psychology. I have had the pleasure of working with individuals across the life span, from toddlers to middle adulthood. I specialize in providing supportive counseling and evidence-based interventions for school aged-children/teens and enjoy collaborating with parents through positive techniques and strategies that help them to better understand challenging behavior. I love helping young adults achieve their goals as they move through a transitional period in their lives. I conduct psychological assessments and evaluations for all ages, for concerns such as ADHD, developmental delays, learning disabilities, giftedness, and autism spectrum disorder. Additionally, I have received formal training in the administration of the ADOS-2, the gold standard for assessing ASD.

My greatest satisfaction comes from helping my clients build on their strengths, step out with confidence, and gain control of their lives through the goals and strategies we collaborate on together.

What can I expect in my first few sessions with?

During our first few sessions, the main focus will be on getting to know each other. This time is meant to help you feel comfortable while also allowing me to understand your strengths and the areas where you may need support. For kids, these sessions often involve playing games and activities, which help create a relaxed, welcoming environment and encourage open communication.

What makes you different from other psychologists?

In our work together, the focus won’t only be on the challenges or areas we’re assessing, but also on highlighting the many strengths you or your child brings. Throughout the process, I’ll be looking for the ways they show resilience, compassion, creativity, and perseverance. Recognizing these strengths is just as important as understanding areas of growth, because it gives us a fuller picture of who they are and helps guide how we support them best.

What inspired you to become a psychologist?

I’ve always felt a strong pull toward helping others. Becoming a psychologist allows me to truly connect with people, understand their stories, and support them in making meaningful changes in their lives. I love being able to walk alongside someone in their journey and see the growth, healing, and resilience that can come from that process.
