Romae Harriott - Therapist in Coral Springs, FL

Introduction

I enjoy working with individuals (both children and adults), families and couples. In therapy, I create a safe space for my clients to explore their feelings and recognize different patterns of behavior. My priorities are to maintain confidentiality and standing by cultural competence in order to join with clients in a non-judgmental manner. I focus on therapy through a systemic lens which enables specialization in interrelationships between self and others and considers not just the client but everyone around them. I specialize in reducing relational conflict, grief therapy, and substance use. I utilize a non-judgmental stance while providing support to my clients who encounter issues with relationships, grief and loss, anxiety, depression, stress management, emotional health struggles and life transitions.

I have a desire to make a difference in the lives of others and find it meaningful to see clients progress and ways they overcome obstacles.

Looking forward to the opportunity to be a part of your journey towards change.

What can I expect in my first few sessions with?

In the first few sessions with me, I will gather information about your background, concerns you may have, and goals you want to accomplish while establishing a therapeutic foundation that is built on building rapport with you and discussing confidentiality. During this time, it is an opportunity for us to build a connection since we may have vulnerable moments in therapy. Establishing that connection allows you to feel comfortable and safe with me as we start this journey together.

What makes you different from other therapists?

I am different from other therapists because of my unique approach to my clients. I allow clients to feel comfortable with me through empathy and my caring nature throughout their journey in therapy, while creating a safe space as I listen to my clients to gain an understanding of their feelings and thoughts without judgments. My goal is to assist clients to recognize their strengths while guiding them through personal challenges and place an emphasis on emotional healing, relationships, and daily functioning. As a therapist, I believe in effective communication with clients, allowing them gain insight and find possible solutions.

What inspired you to become a therapist?

As far as I can remember, I always had a personal desire to help others. By nature, I have a caring personality and wanted to utilize it in some ways. I wanted to find purpose and meaning in a career that involves some level of fulfillment, human connection and empowering others. This stemmed from a big family-oriented background which included witnessing different family dynamics and patterns that I tried to find the meaning of and make sense of why we behave the way that we do and how we connect with others. I always wanted to make a difference with others, and it started with family first leading to a great career to become a family therapist.
