Jamie Vaughn - Therapist in Sunrise, FL

I believe healing happens best when people feel genuinely seen, heard, and supported. I approach therapy with warmth, curiosity, and a deep respect for each person’s lived experience. My goal is to create a space where clients can slow down, make sense of what they’re carrying, and feel equipped to navigate life's challenges. I work with teens, adults, and couples facing concerns such as anxiety, trauma, relationship stress, identity exploration, and major life transitions.

Many clients come to therapy feeling overwhelmed, stuck in patterns they don’t fully understand, or disconnected from themselves or the people around them. Together, we will focus on understanding your story, strengthening coping skills, and building healthier relationships with yourself and the people around you.

Clients can expect a collaborative, compassionate approach that balances reflection with practical tools. I integrate mindfulness, relational work, and strengths-based strategies to help clients develop insight, emotional awareness, and confidence in their ability to move forward with intention and clarity.

What can I expect in my first few sessions with you?

In the first few sessions, my focus is on getting to know you — not just what brings you to therapy, but who you are as a person. We’ll move at a pace that feels comfortable, and you won’t be expected to share anything you’re not ready for. I’ll ask thoughtful questions to understand your story, your relationships, and what feels most important to you right now. Together, we’ll begin identifying patterns, stressors, and strengths, while also building practical tools you can start using between sessions if that feels helpful. Above all, you can expect a space that feels collaborative, supportive, and non-judgmental. Our sessions will be a place where you can show up as you are and begin making sense of what you’re carrying.

What makes you different from other therapists?

I bring a relational, trauma-informed lens to therapy that looks not only at symptoms, but at the full context of a person’s life. I’m deeply curious about people’s stories — how past experiences, relationships, and systems have shaped who they are and how they move through the world. My approach balances insight with practicality. I value reflection and emotional awareness, but I also believe therapy should offer tools that clients can actually use outside of session. I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach; instead, I tailor therapy to each individual, honoring their strengths, values, and lived experience. Clients often tell me they appreciate feeling both supported and gently challenged in our work together.

What inspired you to become a therapist?

I began my career in journalism, where I was drawn to storytelling and amplifying people’s voices. I loved learning about others’ lives, perspectives, and experiences. Over time, I realized I wanted to do more than tell stories. I wanted to help people actively change the way they related to themselves and their lives. That desire led me to the field of mental health. I’ve always been passionate about understanding human behavior, relationships, and the ways people make meaning out of their experiences. Becoming a therapist felt like a natural extension of that curiosity and care. What continues to inspire me is witnessing people reconnect with themselves while gaining insight, self-compassion, and confidence as they move through challenges. I enjoy walking alongside clients as they create healthier relationships, both with themselves and with others.
