Kaitlin Smith--Therapist in Sunrise, FL

Hi, I am Kaitlin Smith, a registered marriage and family therapy intern. I believe that mental health is for everyone and that every person has the strengths they need to create meaningful change. I also believe that connection and therapeutic alliance are some of the most important aspects of therapy and endeavor to create a safe space for genuine connection.

My therapy is grounded in Solution-Focused therapy, but I understand there is not a one-size-fits-all approach for therapy. I integrate and apply interventions and techniques from multiple modalities as needed, including Narrative Therapy, Art Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT); most importantly, I utilize and help to draw on your own strengths.

I have experience working with children, teens, families, and adults facing the many challenges of life. I engage with both individuals and families navigating transitions in life, exploring identity, and managing their mental health. While I have years of experience, I am always researching and learning new ways to better connect and create change in the therapy room.

What can I expect in my first few sessions with you?

In the first few sessions, you can expect me to focus on understanding and connecting to you as a person. You can expect me to work collaboratively with you to flesh out goals and begin exploring your innate strengths.

What makes you different from other therapists, psychologists, ARNPs?

I feel like I bring creativity and fun to the therapy space. I work collaboratively with you to find the interventions that work best with you. I also believe that everyone has the resources they need for change. Within this view, you are the expert on your own life, and as a therapist, my role is to work collaboratively with you to identify and amplify that change.

What inspired you to become a therapist, psychologist or medication management provider?

I have always had a deep compassion for people. I greatly value connection and helping people to be the best version of themselves for themselves.
