Elisa Avila - Therapist in Pembroke Pines, FL

Introduction

My name is Elisa Avila (she/her/hers/ella), and I am a bilingual therapist (English/Spanish) providing treatment to children, adolescents, families, and adults. My specialties include treatment of anxiety, depression, family conflict, self-esteem, and trauma to name a few. I utilize various treatment approaches and work where the client is at by including their interests to meet their goals. My main goal is to encourage clients to express themselves and know that they are in a judgment-free zone. I work with clients to help them become independent and take control of their lives as they venture into the future. Creating a world where communication is key, we aim for peace and try to understand each other is my number one dream. I can't wait to work with you. Let's make it happen!

What can I expect in my first few sessions with?

Your first few sessions are completely at your pace. Rather than diving headfirst, we'll focus on building trust and getting comfortable with each other. This time is about creating a safe space where you can show up and be yourself, without pressure to share more than you’re ready for. We'll begin exploring goals and creating your safe space while setting up the foundation for what comes next! My priority is to meet you where you are and ensure you feel safe and supported so we can continue working together as a team!

What makes you different from other therapists?

In my sessions, there is no need to perform; you come in as yourself and we work together to build a better version of yourself. I bring my authentic self so you can feel comfortable sharing yours. However, don't think you'll be left to stall! I do my best to be fair as I practice compassionate accountability to challenge you when it matters and push for actions that move you forward. Be yourself — say what you need to say — and know I’ve got your back!

What inspired you to become a therapist?

Life can be challenging and can even feel paralyzing. I became a therapist because I want to help people realize they’re stronger and more capable than they think. Think of when you first rode a bike and someone finally let you go, you didn't even realized it but you finally did it! I love working with kids, teens, adults, and families, and my favorite part of this work is witnessing that moment when clients surprise themselves with their own strength. In our work together, my hope is that you feel supported, encouraged, and reminded that you don’t have to do it all alone :)
