Hello there! Thank you for visiting my page. I am Jaclyn Felix, a licensed counselor who has been practicing for over 15 years. My expertise outlines several domains and specialties. I specialize with working among populations such as children 5 years and up, adolescents, university students, adults, and families.

During my career, I have participated in community and individual suicide prevention efforts as well as crisis management. In my training and experience I have acquired clinical expertise in suicide prevention and awareness. I have supervised programs and facilitated treatment to support progression for at-risk individuals who are in crisis or suffering from complex mental health symptoms. I have conducted trauma, violence, and depressive assessments to support guidance for treatment and clinical delivery. In addition, I have supervised a school-based behavioral health program that was trauma-informed focused and centered. I have extensive experience with working with emotional and behavioral concerns within educational settings as well as home and community. I have facilitated trauma treatment for over 5 years as a trauma certified clinician. As symptoms and the environment continues to evolve, trauma responses and anxiety has been at its upmost highest. To respond to the needs and complex symptom presentation, I have also undertaken the interest and specialty of treating anxiety and obsession/ compulsion symptoms. I am certified in Exposure Response Prevention to support ongoing treatment needs of those who experience anxiety, obsessions/ compulsions, and trauma-related pervasive symptoms.

Daily demands and life strains can easily become complex and taxing when managing symptoms of trauma, grief, or anxiety. Seeking help and support should not add more to your every day stress. I am here to hold a space for those who seek help in managing trauma, anxiety, depression, life adjustments, or obsessive/compulsive symptoms. My goal is to support you or your family member in gaining confidence and more ‘real time’ perspectives of external stressors and life adjustments. Managing daily obstacles with confidence and more clarity is achievable. Seeking support and refuge in one’s thoughts may be met with difficulty. What can I expect in my first few sessions with?

In our first sessions you can expect to be supported with getting to know you, the process of counseling, and identifying how to support your personal goals. The first session will consist of an intake and introductions. You will be guided with sharing your personal story, personal and medical history, and identifying treatment goals. The next couple of sessions we will build the foundation by exploring patterns, clarifying issues, developing rapport, and identifying initial tools and coping strategies. You will be assisted with becoming familiar with the counseling process. My goal is that therapy is a confidential and safe place where you can be your authentic self and turn to.

What makes you different from other therapists?

I have approximately over 20 years of experience within the field. My experiences have supported my development as a counseling professional. I will initially assist in guiding the process but will support your style that your prefer such as creating space for clients to explore to more directed approaches such as providing structure homework to master skills. I whole-heartedly support counseling for individuals as a positive and insightful resource and a great strategy for self-care. Counseling is appropriate for individuals to help them manage severe mental health problems to addressing making decisions during a difficult time. I feel that meeting where the individual is at is so imperative within the helping relationship. Coming to counseling is the first initial challenging step. It is hoped that after the initial challenges that you feel more at home and at ease to be successful in managing personal challenges. I feel very honored to be part of someone's journey and look forward to celebrating personal milestones with you.

What inspired you to become a therapist?

Entering the counseling field was not a straight trajectory course. After pursuing my Bachelor's degree, I became inspired with helping autistic adult individuals and incarcerated individuals. Upon pursuing my Master's in Mental Health Counseling I became more involved in helping children that had both emotional and developmental needs. Through the course of my first years as a young professional, I have been awarded with witnessing and being apart of young individuals making significant milestones. My experiences have led to my personal belief that helpers and educators are invaluable to an individual's development and growth.
