Aaron Green, Therapist in Orlando, FL

I work with adults who are dealing with worries about their present circumstances, as well as concernsabout their past. I use a trauma-informed approach that helps people develop more effective ways to handletheir challenges while uncovering old patterns that may no longer be serving them.I believe that all people deserve the space to let their most difficult feelings be heard. My areas of focusinclude trauma, anxiety, substance use and recovery, self-criticism, and patterns of avoidance that can leavepeople feeling disconnected from the life they want.I try to keep sessions conversational, collaborative, and direct. I draw from approaches including EMDR,Motivational Interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, and experiential techniques, dependingon what fits the person in front of me. Hopefully through our sessions, you can gain greater clarity aboutyourself and develop practical ways to move forward.I’m excited to be part of Caring Therapists because I value accessible, down-to-earth therapy and theopportunity to work alongside other clinicians who care deeply about their work.

What can I expect in my first few sessions with?

In our first few sessions, I’ll want to hear your story and understand what brought you to therapy, what hasbeen difficult lately, and what you would like to be different. After establishing some goals, we can start toidentify any patterns that may contribute to your concerns and talk about approaches to those patterns thatmake sense to you. The goal is that you leave each session with an appreciation of what we've discussedand an idea of where we're going next.

What makes you different from other therapists, psychologists, ARNPs?

I strive to find the right balance of affirming, inquisitive, and direct. I’m willing to challenge a behavior orperspective when I think it may be helpful. My experience working at the intersection of trauma andsubstance use has taught me to be comfortable with complicated situations and with people who may feeluncertain about what they’re willing to change. I try to navigate all of this with a healthy dose of humor.

What inspired you to become a therapist, psychologist or medication management provider?

I was inspired to become a therapist through my own experiences with challenge, growth, and recovery. Isaw firsthand how much can change when someone has the right support, is willing to do focused work, and is given the opportunity to build a different life. That experience made me want to learn the skills andprocesses that had been so meaningful to me so that I could offer that kind of support to others. I believepeople are capable of meaningful change, even after periods of struggle, and that everyone deserves theopportunity to create something different for themselves.
