Abigail Parthemer, LCSW - Therapist in Wellington, FL

Introduction

My name is Abigail Parthemer. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a passion for supporting individuals navigating grief and loss, anxiety, and depression. I have a strong background working with: children and adolescents, LGBTQ+ clients, offering a safe and affirming space for healing and growth, and individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. I find deep fulfillment in helping others through life’s challenges.

Outside of work, I enjoy reading and volunteering my time to give back to the community. My approach to therapy includes you. I don't like to come at therapy as this is a "I tell you what to do" session, but as a "let's work through this together" session. I am here to help you and be the flashlight in the darkness.

What can I expect in my first few sessions with?

In our first few sessions together, the focus will be on getting to know you—your reasons for coming to therapy, your background, and what you hope to gain from our work. We'll talk about what’s been going on recently, explore key aspects of your history, and begin identifying goals that feel meaningful to you. I’ll also explain how I work, what you can expect from therapy, and answer any questions you have about the process. These early sessions are about building trust, creating a safe space, and starting to understand your experiences—not about fixing everything right away. We'll move at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

What makes you different from other therapists?

What makes my approach different is the intention I bring to creating a therapeutic space that feels both grounded and collaborative. Rather than applying a one-size-fits-all model, I take time to understand you as a whole person—not just your struggles, but your strengths, values, and lived experiences. I integrate clinical skill with a warm, honest presence, showing up with curiosity and care as we work together to uncover what’s beneath the surface. This isn’t just about managing symptoms—it’s about helping you build deeper self-awareness and creating meaningful, sustainable change in your life.

What inspired you to become a therapist?

What inspired me to become a therapist was a deep compassion for people—their stories, struggles, resilience, and the ways they make sense of their experiences. I’ve always been drawn to helping people and walking alongside someone who wants to grow. I believe there’s something profoundly healing about being seen and understood without judgment. Over time, I saw how meaningful it can be to walk alongside someone who begins to reconnect with themselves. Becoming a therapist felt like a natural extension of that calling—to offer presence, insight, and support in moments that matter.
