Angela Hosey, LCSW - Therapist in Palm Beach Gardens, FL

Introduction

My name is Angela and first and foremost I want to say that it is a privilege to work with my clients, not a right. Please allow me to share a little bit about myself. I was born in Ukraine and immigrated to the United States with my family when I was 8 years old. As such, I have personal knowledge of how culture, adjusting to a new culture and major life changes, as well as how traumatic experiences (purposely omitted) play a role in our lives.

My career began in the legal field from the age of 18 and at the age of 23, I became a certified paralegal after attending Long Island University’s paralegal program. My legal profession lasted 16 years and fulfilled one of my purposes in life. Later, in my early 40’s I decided to follow my passion of becoming a therapist, which took 6 years to achieve as I needed to obtain a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree while raising two kids on my own (they were 12 and 15 at the time). I earned a Bachelor’s in Criminal Justice and a Masters in Social Work, both from Florida Atlantic University. During this time my kids and I quickly learned how to work together as a team and this venture aided in my children’s personal, spiritual, educational and professional growth.

My journey in life taught me that I am Resilient, Determined, Driven, Motivated, Compassionate, Passionate, an Empath. Why am I sharing this? Mainly because I believe each individual is capable of being the best version of themselves and has a purpose in life, and likely more than one. And, because personal growth is a lifelong journey that is worth taking. Also, to acknowledge that as we journey through life, it’s common to experience obstacles that challenge us along the way. We may encounter difficulties we wish to overcome or we are looking to acquire new skills to improve our journey through life and I believe that personalized and compassionate support can help.

Whether you struggle with anxiety, depression, self-esteem, trauma, or any other issue, you should know that there is hope for a better tomorrow. I am experienced in working with a vast variety of issues including but not limited to, traumas, addiction, depression, anxiety, self-esteem, as well as motivation, marital and family issues, anger management, and more. I will be your cheerleader and look forward to being a part of your voyage in life.

What can I expect in my first few sessions with?

From the very first session, it is important to me that you feel heard and understood and this will also assist in our rapport building. In the first few sessions, my priority is to create a safe, comfortable space where you can share what has led you to seek therapy at your own pace. I will ask some questions to better understand your history, current challenges, and goals, and we will begin to build a plan that feels right for you. These early sessions are also about building trust and helping you feel supported. There will never be any pressure to have everything figured out - we will take it step by step, working together to identify what you need most and how I can best support you on your journey toward healing and growth.

What makes you different from other therapists?

What makes me different is that I deeply understand what it is like to face challenges and work through the process of healing. My own experiences with adversity have shaped who I am and given me a genuine empathy for others who are navigating difficult seasons in life. Because I done the hard work of growth and healing myself, I bring not only clinical knowledge but also a heartfelt understanding of how personal this journey can be. My passion is to create a safe, non-judgmental space where you feel truly seen and supported as you move toward becoming the best version of yourself. I see therapy as a collaborative process - we work together to uncover your strengths, build resilience, and create lasting change.

What inspired you to become a therapist?

I've known since my late teens that I wanted to be a therapist, but my path to get here wasn't straightforward. I believe that, spiritually, I needed to go through my own life challenges first - to grow, heal, and truly understand myself, both my strengths and my weaknesses. In my early 40's I felt ready to fully pursue this calling, which required that I returned to college where I immersed myself in learning and growth, both professionally and personally. Along the way, I worked in challenging treatment settings, gaining valuable experiences in mental health and recovery, and deepening my understanding of the human spirit. On my path, what inspired me even more was realizing how transformative healing can be. My purpose is to walk alongside others as they heal and create the life they deserve.
