Introduction

Hello, I’m Garrett Cooper, a licensed clinical counselor in the state of Florida. As a clinician I have supported clients looking for assistance in managing their anxiety symptoms, depression, reducing the effects of previous trauma, coping with marital problems, adjustments in life, stress of parenting, and fighting through addiction. I have worked in both outpatient and residential care settings that have provided me with various clinical approaches and interventions.

I would describe my counseling style as warm, calming, and interactive. I believe in treating clients with respect, sensitivity, and compassion, and I don’t believe in stigmatizing labels. My approach combines cognitive-behavioral and the mindfulness approach of acceptance commitment therapy. I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs.

They are about building trust, being real, and giving you tools you can use right away so progress feels possible from the start.

What makes you different from other therapists?

What makes me different is the way I combine processing emotions with learning practical techniques you can use right away. Together we will explore what you are feeling, reduce symptoms, and better understand the patterns connected to your emotions. At the same time, I will give you tools to cope more effectively and handle life’s challenges with greater confidence. My style is down to earth, supportive, and direct. I use evidence based approaches like CBT and ACT, which means we focus on both building healthier ways of thinking and staying steady in the present. Therapy with me is not just about talking. It is about gaining clarity, skills, and a better way forward. My goal is for every session to feel meaningful and relevant to your life.

What inspired you to become a therapist?

I became a therapist because I wanted to dedicate my work to helping people overcome challenges and move toward a better life. Over the years I have seen how therapy can give people the tools to handle stress, rebuild after setbacks, and create healthier relationships with themselves and others. What inspires me most is watching clients walk into therapy feeling weighed down and leave with a clearer sense of strength and direction. Being able to support that kind of transformation is not just meaningful to me, it is why I chose this career.
