Bilsy Thomas - Psychologist in Wellington, FL

Introduction

Bilsy Thomas, PsyD., is a post-doctoral resident dedicated to creating warm, inclusive spaces for children, teens, and adults. Whether through comprehensive psychological evaluation or supportive therapy, Dr. Thomas works collaboratively with clients navigating ADHD, anxiety, depression, trauma, self-esteem, relationship issues and the minority stressors faced by LGBTQIA+ youth and families.

Dr. Thomas utilizes a person-centered, culturally responsive approach rooted in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). Drawing on a rich background in crisis intervention, child welfare, and school and community-based mental health support, Dr. Thomas deeply values collaboration and meeting clients where they are.

At the heart of her work, Dr. Thomas strives to help clients feel seen, heard, and build on their inner strengths to feel empowered and thrive.

Outside of the clinic, Dr. Thomas enjoys reading, listening to music, and spending time with loved ones— especially her chubby tuxedo cat, Mochi.

What can I expect in my first few sessions with you?

During our first few sessions, we'll focus on building rapport, getting to know you and what your goals are. My aim to give you a safe and welcoming space where you can feel comfortable to share and work on things at your pace.

What makes you different from other therapists, psychologists, ARNPs?

Every clinician has their strengths and insights. I believe mine lie in making people feel comfortable, taking on different perspectives, using humor and creating a non-judgmental space.

What inspired you to become a therapist, psychologist or medication management provider?

I was inspired by my high school psychology teachers who instilled a love for how diverse our minds can be. Combine that with a lifelong desire to support others and getting to see firsthand how impactful a nonjudgmental ear can be to those in crisis, pursuing psychology felt like the natural next step!
