Scarlett Beckett - Therapist in Port Orange, FL

 My goal is to create a comfortable space where you’ll feel heard and leave feeling hopeful. I utilize a collaborative approach where we work together to identify and achieve your goals. It is important to me that I meet my clients where they’re at in life and we’ll work together to build from there. In our sessions you will learn effective coping skills and strategies to manage life’s stressors and challenges. My hope is that through our work together you will gain more understanding of yourself and improve your quality of life. After receiving my Bachelors in Social Work, my career led me to work with children/youth and families. I gained skills in trauma informed care and how to help clients manage the associated symptoms and reactions. Since receiving my Masters in Social Work from University of Michigan and thereafter moving to Florida, I have worked with clients

 facing addiction, anxiety, depression, PTSD, grief and loss, and adjustment disorders. I am also certified in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART). I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Trauma Informed care, and a Strengths Based approach while working with clients.  I see clients of all ages, 18 years and older.

My aim is to create a safe space where you feel comfortable and encouraged. We will get to know each other, and I'll ask questions to understand your background and what's been happening recently.  This helps me tailor therapy to your needs rather than guessing or using a one-size fits all approach.  You'll start getting strategies or insights that you can use between sessions.   

What makes you different from other therapists?

I am well rounded in terms of ages, populations, and diagnoses I've worked with throughout my career.  I look at the person and their environment, and meet my clients where they're at in life. 

What inspired you to become a therapist?

I actually started off in nursing school, but found that I enjoyed talking to people about their current struggles and circumstances more so than the medical side of things.  I knew I was meant to help people, but didn't quite know how until figuring it out in nursing school.
