Austin Dance - Therapist in Port Orange, FL

My name is Austin, and I provide therapy to teens, adults, seniors, and couples who are navigating a wide range of mental health challenges, including trauma, anxiety, depression, substance use, relationship concerns, and the difficult-to-name experiences that simply feel heavy or overwhelming. Supporting people through meaningful change has always been at the center of my work. I’ve trained and practiced across multiple settings, working with individuals facing complex emotional, relational, and behavioral struggles. I am certified in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) and trained in EMDR, two evidence-based approaches that help clients resolve distress and trauma without needing to re-experience the pain in detail. I also integrate mindfulness, parts work, CBT, and other therapeutic modalities to meet the unique needs of each client I serve. My main goal is to meet clients exactly where they are and move forward from that place—at their pace—toward greater clarity, emotional balance, and self-awareness. I understand that beginning therapy can feel vulnerable, especially when you’re not sure what to expect. Because of that, I focus on creating a grounded, compassionate, and non-judgmental space where you can show up fully as yourself and know you’ll be supported. Whether you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, disconnected, or simply ready for something in your life to shift, I’m here to help you take the next step. Together, we’ll work toward healing, insight, and a stronger connection to the version of yourself you’re becoming.

What can I expect in my first few sessions with?

In our initial sessions, my priority is to create a safe and welcoming space where you feel comfortable sharing your story at your own pace. We’ll start by getting to know each other—exploring what brought you to therapy, what’s been challenging, and what you hope to achieve.  I’ll ask questions to better understand your background, current struggles, strengths, and goals. This helps me tailor our work together to fit your unique needs. We’ll also discuss how therapy works, what approaches I use, and answer any questions you might have.  Early on, the focus is on building trust and a collaborative relationship. Therapy is a partnership, so I want you to feel heard, respected, and empowered every step of the way. As we move forward, we’ll identify practical tools and strategies that resonate with you to help reduce distress and create positive change.

What makes you different from other therapists?

My deepest commitment is to truly understand you—your story, your struggles, and your strengths—so that therapy feels meaningful and relevant to your life. I prioritize creating a space where you feel safe, accepted, and free to be yourself without judgment.  I believe that every person’s experience is unique, and I tailor my approach to fit your needs, drawing from evidence-based methods alongside compassionate listening. My goal is to meet you exactly where you are and work together at a pace that feels right, helping you build insight, resilience, and clarity on your own terms.  Ultimately, therapy with me is about partnership—a shared journey toward healing and self-discovery grounded in respect, empathy, and understanding.

What inspired you to become a therapist?

My journey into therapy was deeply influenced by my own experience of the healing power of therapy—how it helped me navigate difficult times and find clarity and strength within myself. That personal insight gave me a profound appreciation for how transformative therapy can be.  Additionally, my time serving as a combat medic in the Army exposed me to the immense and often unmet mental health needs of individuals facing trauma and crisis. Witnessing their struggles firsthand sparked a commitment in me to support others on their healing journeys.  Together, these experiences inspired me to dedicate my career to helping people move from pain and overwhelm toward greater resilience, self-awareness, and hope.
