Carly Snyder - Therapist in Fort Lauderdale, FL

Introduction

I offer compassionate, effective counseling for individuals, couples, and families across all life stages. My eclectic approach is rooted in Emotion-Focused Therapy, and I specialize in anxiety, depression, life transitions, women’s issues, fertility, low self-esteem, trauma, medical illness, and relationship challenges.

Our sessions will be an active dialogue, where I listen attentively and engage meaningfully, making the most of our time together. Together, we’ll explore the “why” behind certain behaviors to foster insight and growth. I’ll always show up authentically, using our connection to help you make progress, meet your goals, and experience growth.

Whether you’re feeling stuck or seeking clarity, I’m here to help you feel safe, heard, non-judged, and supported. Life can be tough, and you don’t have to face it alone. I look forward to connecting with you.

What can I expect in my first few sessions with?

In our first few sessions together, my main goal is to create a safe, supportive space where you can share your story at your own pace. We’ll spend time getting to know each other, exploring what brings you to therapy, and clarifying your goals. I’ll ask some gentle questions to understand your background, strengths, and challenges, and you’ll have the opportunity to ask me about my approach and how we’ll work together.

Together, we’ll begin identifying what you’d like to change or achieve, and we’ll outline a plan that feels comfortable and realistic for you. Early sessions are about building trust and collaboration—there’s no pressure to “have it all figured out” right away.

What makes you different from other therapist?

I will always show up as my authentic self, and I believe the relationship we build is just as important as the tools and techniques we use. I see therapy as a collaborative process, where real connection creates real change.

One of the ways I do this is by using our relationship as a model for growth — we’ll pay attention not just to what we talk about, but how we relate to one another. This means I’ll be engaged, honest, and fully present with you. I won’t be the kind of therapist you disclose everything to while knowing nothing about in return. While I keep the focus on you, I also bring my humanity and genuineness into each session.

This approach helps us build a foundation of trust and mutual respect — so you can feel seen, supported, and challenged in the ways that matter most for your growth.

What inspired you to become a therapist?

My life experiences motivated me to become a therapist; I wouldn’t be the person or therapist I am today without them. I’ve relied on my own therapy during some particularly difficult chapters — like navigating my early twenties while caring for my father through his illness, and later in life, as I faced fertility challenges. I know firsthand how powerful it can be to have someone walk beside you during painful or uncertain times, and it inspired me to be that person for others. These experiences shaped not only who I am, but also how I show up in the therapy room: with compassion, presence, and a deep respect for the strength it takes to be vulnerable.
