Amber Lovato, LCSW - Therapist in Fort Lauderdale, FL

Introduction

I am Amber Lovato, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a deep-rooted passion for mental health and well-being. Growing up in an environment that did not prioritize mental health, I have made it my mission to teach others about its importance. With extensive experience working with diverse populations, including children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder, and those struggling with addiction, I am dedicated to fostering a safe and nurturing environment where individuals of all ages can feel seen, heard, and supported.

My therapy style is grounded in evidence-based approaches, primarily Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which allows individuals to reframe their thoughts and empower themselves. I also incorporate mindfulness and grounding techniques to help clients connect with the present moment and develop a greater sense of self-awareness. Drawing from empowerment and strengths-based theories, I strive to establish a strong therapeutic alliance that promotes growth, healing, and the development of healthy coping skills.

What sets me apart is my confidence and openness to learning. I believe in the power of continuous growth and staying informed about the latest advancements in the field. Additionally, my personal life experiences have given me a profound appreciation for the interconnectedness of mental, physical, and spiritual health.

What can I expect in my first few sessions with?

In our initial sessions together, you can anticipate gaining a clearer understanding of the nature of therapy and its boundaries. We will collaborate to establish goals that specifically address the challenges that led you to seek therapy. Together, we will create a safe space where you feel acknowledged and understood. Additionally, these early sessions will provide us with the opportunity to build rapport and trust, which are essential for a fruitful therapeutic process.

What makes you different from other therapists?

What distinguishes my approach from that of other therapists is my commitment to viewing you as an individual rather than just another client. I aim to help you recognize that you are more than your challenges and that meaningful change is attainable. My goal is to engage in ongoing learning to provide my clients with the most current information in the fields of psychology and social work. Furthermore, I believe it is essential to consider you as a whole person—mentally, physically, and spiritually—to ensure that I deliver the highest quality of care.

What inspired you to become a therapist?

My journey to becoming a therapist is deeply rooted in my experiences growing up in an environment where the effects of mental health were often overlooked, impacting not just individuals but families as well. Witnessing substance abuse and mental health struggles firsthand opened my eyes to the importance of addressing these issues for a person to lead a fulfilling and happy life. One of the most rewarding aspects of this work is partnering with individuals who feel that things may never improve and then witnessing their journey toward hope and healing. It’s moments like these that reaffirm my passion for the transformative power of therapy.
