Michael Attanasio, LMHC - Online Therapist in Florida

Introduction

I am a clinician who has a deep-rooted passion for what I do by bringing eclectic evidence-based practices to my sessions.

I have a diverse background of experience working with individuals overcoming substance abuse, exploring their identity in the LGBTQ+ population, complex grief, chronic illness, sexual issues/exploration, and life transitions of various calibers. I work with couples/partners from traditional relationships to non-traditional relationships of all variations. Regarding my experience with children, I started my professional career teaching elementary school and middle school science.

I have brought this into my practice with children and parents helping those struggling with developmental and/or educational struggles, spectrum disorders, and social and/or behavioral concerns.

What can I expect in my first few sessions with?

My approach to my first few sessions with clients is to create a comfortable environment where you feel like you are getting to know me as I am getting to know you. I want this to be a place where you feel safe to explore all sides of yourself, so this is key to therapy in my eyes.

What makes you different from other therapists?

I approach therapy authentically with my clients, as I often feel this is important to the therapeutic progress for your own growth. I often focus on a deeper sense of identity, values, morals, themes, and beliefs in your own life to better support you in building on a strong pillar of authenticity. While I work with depression, anxiety, ADHD, and other common diagnoses, I also work with all branches of the LGBTQ+ community, nontraditional relationships, and ASD and other niche populations.

What inspired you to become a therapist?

I was inspired into this line of work because I desire to work in a field that supports others in their self-alignment to have a better outlook on life. Previously, as a teacher, the most fulfilling part of it wasn't teaching a subject, but the deeper feelings the students evoked in response to their learning and learning environment. When I explored the career change, I went back to my original point of interest, therapy, and found myself exactly where I was meant to be.
