Claudia Kra

Hi, I’m Claudia. I am originally from the Washington, D.C. area and I am currently a graduate student at Nova Southeastern University, receiving my Master’s in Couple and Family Therapy. I’m completing my practicum and internship as I work toward licensure under the supervision of Erica Zambon.

I bring a systemic perspective to my work, paying close attention to how relationships, family dynamics, and environments shape each person’s experiences. I take a strength-based approach, helping clients recognize and utilize their inner resources as they navigate challenges and move toward growth. My goal is to create a collaborative space where clients feel supported and empowered.

Before beginning my training as a therapist, I worked as an elementary school teacher and also built a private tutoring and college consulting practice. Those experiences gave me the opportunity to work closely with children, teens, young adults, and families, and they continue to influence the way I listen, connect, and encourage growth in therapy.

Outside of my work, I enjoy spending time outdoors, reading at the beach, cooking with fresh ingredients, traveling, and being with family and friends!

What makes you different from other therapists?

I bring a unique blend of experience as both an educator and a therapist-in-training. My years as an elementary teacher and college consultant taught me the importance of meeting people where they are, fostering growth through encouragement, and creating structure while staying flexible. I carry this same approach into therapy; combining clinical training with patience, empathy, and a strengths-based perspective. My goal is always to provide a space where you feel seen, supported, and empowered to create meaningful change.

What makes you different from other therapists?

As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, I take a collaborative and goal-focused approach to therapy. I believe lasting change happens when people feel truly seen, supported, and empowered to take ownership of their growth. My role is to create a space where you can explore your experiences without judgment, clarify what matters most to you, and begin taking meaningful steps toward the life you want. Whether you're navigating a life transition, dealing with anxiety or stress, or feeling stuck, I’m here to help you build insight, develop practical tools, and move forward with intention and confidence.

What inspired you to become a therapist?

My work as an elementary teacher and college consultant inspired me to pursue therapy. In both roles, I saw how many children, teens, and families navigate stress, trauma, and uncertainty; and how much they benefit from having a safe, steady source of support. Being a consistent guide and resource for my students and clients showed me the impact of helping people build resilience and confidence. That experience sparked my passion for becoming a therapist and continues to motivate the work I do today.
