What can I expect in my first few sessions with?

In your first few sessions, we’ll focus on getting to know each other and building a foundation of trust. I’ll take time to learn about your story, your goals, and what has brought you to therapy. We’ll explore what’s been weighing on you, but also identify the strengths and resources you already carry.

These early sessions are collaborative, I’ll ask questions, listen carefully, and invite you to share at a pace that feels comfortable. Together, we’ll begin to outline a plan for our work, so you know what to expect and feel supported in moving toward healing and growth.

Most importantly, you can expect a safe, nonjudgmental space where your voice is heard, your experiences are validated, and you are not facing life’s challenges alone.

What makes you different from other therapists?

What makes me different from other therapists is the way I view you as more than your struggles. While we will explore the challenges that bring you to therapy, I also focus on uncovering and building upon your strengths. I believe every person has within them the resilience and capacity for growth, even when life feels overwhelming.

I don’t take a one-size-fits-all approach, our work is collaborative, with your goals and your voice at the center. My role is to walk alongside you, offering both compassion and practical strategies, so you feel empowered to move forward with clarity and confidence. Ultimately, my hope is to help you not only heal from the weight of past or present pain, but also to discover joy, balance, and fulfillment in your pursuit of happiness.

What inspired you to become a therapist?

What inspired me to become a therapist is both cultural and personal. Growing up Haitian, I saw how mental health was often misunderstood or even stigmatized, and many people carried heavy burdens without a safe place to share them. I also experienced within my own family the challenges of unspoken struggles, strained dynamics, and the longing to be truly understood. In many Caribbean families, including my own, boundaries can be blurred, and emotional struggles often go unspoken. Those dynamics shaped my understanding of how powerful it can be to have someone who understands the culture, speaks the language, and can offer a place where you truly feel seen.

These early lessons motivated me to step into this work. I wanted to help individuals, couples, and families navigate their challenges while also uncovering their strengths, building resilience, and reclaiming joy. For me, being a therapist is not just about addressing pain, it’s about walking with people as they move toward balance, wholeness, and their pursuit of happiness.
